The UA Community Center Capital Campaign Committee announced today the Honorary Co-Chairs for the fundraising initiative to gain the private sector’s support for the $54 million construction of a multi-generational community gathering place at Kingsdale Center. Bill Hosket and his son, Brad, will lead the campaign along with Wendy Gomez and her daughter, Kate. The Upper Arlington Community Foundation (UACF), as the fiscal agent for the fundraising initiative. The Foundation is partnering with the City of Upper Arlington through an agreement that will direct those private donations to support the funding of the Center. T

Bill Hosket is well known and respected both nationally and in Central Ohio. He played college basketball at The Ohio State University and captained Ohio State to the Final Four in 1968. He then competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal with the United States basketball team. Hosket also played four seasons in the NBA and was a member of the New York Knicks 1970 World Championship team. Bill is one of the founding principals of Hosket Ulen Insurance Solutions.

Bill’s son, Brad, is a 2000 Finance graduate from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, where he also played on the Buckeye varsity basketball team. After college, Brad served as a financial consultant, real estate broker, and risk manager before joining Hosket Ulen Insurance Solutions in 2013, where he is currently serving as Managing Partner. He and his family have been lifelong and active residents in the Upper Arlington community.

Bill and Brad indicated their enthusiasm to represent the Hosket family in supporting the Capital Campaign as Honorary Co-Chairs. “We are honored and privileged to participate in this community-wide effort to secure private funds to create a vibrant space for residents of all ages. This facility will provide for an exciting mix of activities, educational events, and social and recreational opportunities that will benefit our entire community.”

Wendy Hinton Gomez is a 1987 graduate of UAHS, where she was involved in gymnastics and cheerleading, and a 1992 graduate of The Ohio State University, where she was a two-time captain of the cheerleading team. A lifelong resident of Upper Arlington, she founded Wendy's Gymnastics & Fitness for Children in 1993 and enjoys having multiple generations of UA families come through the program to this day. Her community involvement includes: UA Alumni Association Board Member, OSU Advisory Board Member to the Spirit Squad Coach, OSU Alumni Association Board of Directors Nominating Committee, UAHS Athletic Hall Of Fame Nominating Committee, UA Community Center Feasibility Task Force Member, UA Community Foundation Board Member, and various volunteer positions at Barrington Elementary School and Jones Middle School. Wendy and her husband, Jeff, who co-owns G2 Capital Management located in Upper Arlington, have five children, Kate (21), Jen (19), Lauren (17), Allie (15), and Jake (13).

Kate Gomez is a 2018 graduate of UAHS, where she held many leadership roles such as Bear Den President, multiple captainships of volleyball and cheerleading, and on Kickin' It Live. She is currently a senior at The Ohio State University studying Human Development and Family Studies, as well as Business and Leadership Studies. Kate has been active with First Community Church's Mexico Mission Trip and has held multiple positions with Camp Akita. She also founded Queue Academy during the COVID-19 quarantine to help local UA children learn, grow, and stay active, and help their families navigate the pandemic. Her involvement at OSU includes serving as the Chapter President of Pi Beta Phi, working with the Office of Student Life and Department of Development, as well as being selected to the 2022 OSU Homecoming Court. In addition to being a Buckeye Leadership Fellow, Kate is also a student representative on the OSU Task Force on Community Safety and Well-Being.

Together, Wendy and Kate reflect on the importance of bringing generations together through the Community Center. “We are looking forward to serving as Honorary Co-Chairs with Bill and Brad for this crucial capital campaign to raise the resources needed to make this vital visionary gathering place a reality for all our community’s citizens to experience.”

Campaign Co-Chairs Mike Fitzpatrick and Margie Pizzuti also announced the members of the Committee (listed below), who will be participating in this fundraising drive. Fitzpatrick is currently the Chair of the UACF Board of Directors, and Pizzuti is the immediate Past-Chair of the Board and has served as the Co-Chair of the City’s 16-member Community Center Feasibility Task Force. “We are gratified by the willingness of our community leaders to offer their time, talent, and treasures to engage in this exceedingly important fundraising drive by reaching out to a broad base of individuals and families, who have expressed an interest in financially supporting the capital campaign,” Pizzuti stated.
